I loved the Buffy tv show, didn't really get into it until the last couple seasons, then went and binged the previous ones。 Often watch them again when I need a comfort watch。 So when I saw this book I was intrigued by it。 It was nice to see the old characters, but it was weird, very different。 I get stopping to do other things, instead of listening to this one, which is odd for me。 I don't think these post tv show Buffy things are for me。 I loved the Buffy tv show, didn't really get into it until the last couple seasons, then went and binged the previous ones。 Often watch them again when I need a comfort watch。 So when I saw this book I was intrigued by it。 It was nice to see the old characters, but it was weird, very different。 I get stopping to do other things, instead of listening to this one, which is odd for me。 I don't think these post tv show Buffy things are for me。 。。。more

The only good part was hearing the "voices" again even though there were a couple of people that I honestly thought were impersonators before I looked it up。 I hate to say it but this was worse than a first fanfiction attempt。 I am pretty sure this wouldn't go anywhere without the Buffy nostalgia。 Just saying the words queen of the witches and queen of vampires really illustrates the vibes。 The only good part was hearing the "voices" again even though there were a couple of people that I honestly thought were impersonators before I looked it up。 I hate to say it but this was worse than a first fanfiction attempt。 I am pretty sure this wouldn't go anywhere without the Buffy nostalgia。 Just saying the words queen of the witches and queen of vampires really illustrates the vibes。 。。。more

So fun and nostalgic being back in the Buffy world Was the story perfect? no, did I love it? absolutely! It was a full on graphic audio (squeallll) the sound effects, music, everything was just so good!

I’ve never been able to follow audiobooks without zoning out but this was something else! So nostalgic it was like watching the series。 I love how they’ve brought in actors/characters that deserved a different ending。 I really hope they make another because the cliff hanger has me itching to hear more!
Jamie Schartman,
This was so amazing! The nostalgia hit hard and that cliffhanger。 Hoping for a part 2!
Catka,
This was unnecessary。 As much as I loved hearing the "old friends", I did not enjoy the story and was bored at times。 Also, I kept mixing the female voices, somehow, it was difficult to distinguish them from one another。 I always love listening to James Marsters (I listened to 17 books of the Dresden files, mostly because it was narrated by him), but he does not seem to get the English accent quite well。 And I don´t know what happened to Anthony Steward Head, whether it is an illness or just bad This was unnecessary。 As much as I loved hearing the "old friends", I did not enjoy the story and was bored at times。 Also, I kept mixing the female voices, somehow, it was difficult to distinguish them from one another。 I always love listening to James Marsters (I listened to 17 books of the Dresden files, mostly because it was narrated by him), but he does not seem to get the English accent quite well。 And I don´t know what happened to Anthony Steward Head, whether it is an illness or just bad denture, but he seemed to have big troubles with pronouncing words and it was quite painful to listen to。 And I was missing Buffy and Willow, and even Angel。 Somehow, it does not seem right without them。 It´s a pity。 Please do not make any more parts of this。 。。。more

This was a great love letter to the universe and fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer。 It pays homage as well as expanding that world。In the wake of Joss Whedon’s allegations, one wonders if those stories still stand。 Well they do!It moves the story forward and keeps you guessing until the end。I’m ready for the sequel!!

Disclaimer: I’m not generally a fan of these full-cast productions that aren’t really books but like listening to a play。 Much of this is pretty silly, but it’s so fun to have these characters back and performed by the original actors。 Unsurprisingly, Drusilla steals every scene she’s in, but I was pleasantly surprised by Clem’s scene-stealing ability。 If I wasn't a giant Buffy fan, I wouldn't have rated it so high。 Of course, if I wasn't a giant Buffy fan, I wouldn't have listened to it in the Disclaimer: I’m not generally a fan of these full-cast productions that aren’t really books but like listening to a play。 Much of this is pretty silly, but it’s so fun to have these characters back and performed by the original actors。 Unsurprisingly, Drusilla steals every scene she’s in, but I was pleasantly surprised by Clem’s scene-stealing ability。 If I wasn't a giant Buffy fan, I wouldn't have rated it so high。 Of course, if I wasn't a giant Buffy fan, I wouldn't have listened to it in the first place。Also, #TeamSpike forever, eyeballs to entrails。 。。。more

When all the stuff came out about Whedon, it broke my heart because I'd been a huge fan of Buffy, Angel, Firefly and I thought I was never going to be able to enjoy rewatching them in the same way。 But thanks to time going by and the Buffy cast holding onto their love and pride for the show, my enthusiasm has been reignited and I've started rewatching it。Overall, I enjoyed this。 It's well produced, I was rarely confused about what was going on despite there being quite a lot of action。 The cast When all the stuff came out about Whedon, it broke my heart because I'd been a huge fan of Buffy, Angel, Firefly and I thought I was never going to be able to enjoy rewatching them in the same way。 But thanks to time going by and the Buffy cast holding onto their love and pride for the show, my enthusiasm has been reignited and I've started rewatching it。Overall, I enjoyed this。 It's well produced, I was rarely confused about what was going on despite there being quite a lot of action。 The cast are great, always loved James Marsters as Spike, Cordelia gets some wonderful moments, love the new slayer (Indira), and Clem is a lot of fun。 Not to mention Anya。 Much nostalgia at hearing Drusilla's voice again, and Giles'。It's not perfect, there are a few scenes that drag, and one or two over-silly moments。 But it is entertaining with a lot of heart, and I look forward (hopefully?) to a sequel! 。。。more

This didn't need to be great to get 5 stars。 Buffy is my favorite show of all time, and to have an audiobook with almost all of the cast returning to voice some of my favorite characters? It could have been meh。 They could have phoned it in and it would still have been one of the most fun audiobook performances imaginable for me。 BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY GREAT! I hope they keep doing them。 These will be on automatic preorder EVERY TIME! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I liked this book, but I really think I should have loved it。 I'm a huge Buffy fan, having watched all seasons, all seasons of Angel, and even read the Dark Horse comic series of Buffy Season 8 and most of Season 9。 I was really excited by this book, and there are definitely some huge positives and fun times。 But it left me a little unsatisfied。 Here are my thoughts (spoilers):What I loved:- The return of characters from the series with the original castmembers。- They handled the return of 'dead I liked this book, but I really think I should have loved it。 I'm a huge Buffy fan, having watched all seasons, all seasons of Angel, and even read the Dark Horse comic series of Buffy Season 8 and most of Season 9。 I was really excited by this book, and there are definitely some huge positives and fun times。 But it left me a little unsatisfied。 Here are my thoughts (spoilers):What I loved:- The return of characters from the series with the original castmembers。- They handled the return of 'dead' characters really well。 The authors used the perfect reasoning。- Pretty good writing with fun quips throughout。- Great voice acting。- A very interesting premise intermingling vampires and magic。What I didn't love:- No Buffy (obviously)- No Joss Whedon - sorry, not sorry。 The writing was funny, but didn't have the wit and insight that Whedon's work (at his prime) had- For some reason I found the last 20% of the book fairly boring。 I felt like they could have gotten to the point more quickly。- Listening to fights in an audiobook isn't as fun as watching them on TV。 Most of the end of the book was fighting。- Ultimately, the big one is that I didn't find the plot very compelling at the end。 I'm not sure why I felt that way。 I was a little bored at the climax of the book。I think other Buffy fans will probably love this book。 I liked it, but just didn't love it。 That being said, if Audible produces more of these, I will definitely buy them! 。。。more

Why did we have to wait so long for this to happen? It’s a rich dive into the buffy lore and a pending to a new chapter in slayer history。 Some fan favourites make a return and it’s just really fantastic

The only moment I didn’t hate this book was the very brief clip of James Marsters as Spike humming Rest in Peace。 All of the rest, was truly awful。 The story was just not there for me and I found it dragged on for 8 hours to the point where I was considering not finishing, and I should have done that。 Basically, OG Buffy fans should know that going into this full cast audiobook, as wonderful as it is to have our favorite characters back in our ears, the story is severely lacking。 Save your time The only moment I didn’t hate this book was the very brief clip of James Marsters as Spike humming Rest in Peace。 All of the rest, was truly awful。 The story was just not there for me and I found it dragged on for 8 hours to the point where I was considering not finishing, and I should have done that。 Basically, OG Buffy fans should know that going into this full cast audiobook, as wonderful as it is to have our favorite characters back in our ears, the story is severely lacking。 Save your time and just rewatch the series or your favorite episodes! Also I found the ambient fighting noises very distracting。 I don’t mind the extra sounds for effect like doors opening, etc - but that was just too much at once。 Even having read some of the comic books, this audiobook was just a huge let down for me。 It ends with a cliffhanger but I definitely won’t be listening to more。 。。。more

Fairly disappointed in this。 The fan service is excellent。 The dialog is a bit wooden and doesn't have any of the wit of the original series。 The characters are one dimensional and don't have the depth they used to have。 But the worst thing was that due to the format, everyone kept describing what they were seeing, which would have made no sense from the actual characters perspective。 It kept pulling me out of the story and breaking immersion。 Fairly disappointed in this。 The fan service is excellent。 The dialog is a bit wooden and doesn't have any of the wit of the original series。 The characters are one dimensional and don't have the depth they used to have。 But the worst thing was that due to the format, everyone kept describing what they were seeing, which would have made no sense from the actual characters perspective。 It kept pulling me out of the story and breaking immersion。 。。。more

Very fun, but a little confusing。 This is more of a verbal play than a book。 The voice acting was right on the money。 The story left a little something to be desired, but so glad to have pre-ordered and listened to it。 I do hope there's a part 2。 The end sets up a second book, so I hope it's in production now! Fun having all the cast back, and it really did give the feel of falling back into the BuffyverseHowever, even though there's a lot to love here as a lifelong Buffy fan , there's far more to cringe over。It does end on a cliffhanger, so hopefully, if the series does continue, they can tighten up the writing and production。 Fun having all the cast back, and it really did give the feel of falling back into the BuffyverseHowever, even though there's a lot to love here as a lifelong Buffy fan , there's far more to cringe over。It does end on a cliffhanger, so hopefully, if the series does continue, they can tighten up the writing and production。 。。。more

I LOVED Buffy the Vampire Slayer when the show was in TV so when I saw this was coming I immediately preordered it。 This full cast audio book was incredible! So many members of the original cast reprised their roles and the nostalgia was strong。 This story stood in its own though and was very well written。 The ending left it open to more sequels and I would love to listen to those as well。
